Developing people into followers of Jesus Christ with a passion to worship God well and communicate
Our services are designed to be awe-inspiring celebrations of God. Each week, our worship focuses on at least one truth about God in order to lead people to participate in actively giving praise to Him. Music is an important part of worship, and we use both congregational singing and performed special music by individuals and groups, while striving to avoid an atmosphere of simply being "entertained." Our music is primarily contemporary, but it also includes some traditional hymns and Christian anthems, as we use a variety of styles in a "blended worship" setting. As appropriate, such input as drama, testimonies, dramatic readings, and spontaneous sharing and prayer from the congregation are also used to facilitate worship. Before they are dismissed to age-appropriate classes, children and youth join adults for a portion of this time so that families worship together.
The goal for our preaching and teaching ministry is to be both Biblical and relevant to life. Every message is designed to teach people God's Word and inspire them with practical ways to obey. Pastor Barber's style of preaching is what many know as "expository preaching." He builds his sermons on Biblical passages, explaining them in a verse-by-verse fashion to allow the Scripture - not just human ideology - to govern the shape of the sermon. However, it is also very practical, as he makes the Scripture relevant to life in the 21st century and applies Biblical truths to everyday situations.
